All nighter.

Been a minute since I posted on my blog. I just feel like being free. I took an extremely long nap today and which results in me being awake at 6:23 AM. I just have some self questions, like untimely what is time?

What is every second of our day truly for?

Why do people “waste” time? Or take it for granted.

I am a very hard lover. I love everything. Even the stuff I “hate”. I want to know everyone has the source of love present in their life.

As I get older I tend to miss the simpler times of life. Where all we had was good feelings. The bad feelings were so far and few in between. Of course depending on your childhood. But still. Nothing measurable to what we go through now.

I just want to remind everyone to stay genuine. And to practice moving with love. The more consciously aware we are of our actions and what they are derived from; the more control we have over our emotions that can stem from situations.

Positivity wins every situation. I can’t think of a time my positive nature hasn’t changed a confrontation from turning ugly.

I don’t want to look back and think, “wow, all I did was waste ALOT of time”.

20 somethingshave no guildelines other than the task of FINDING US(YOU). So take those wasted times and drive it into learning more about you. That’s never a second of waste. Xox

Bill Cosby, soon headed to sentencing

Image result for the cosby showOne of the world’s best known entertainers, Bill Cosby, was found guilty of three counts by a jury Thursday.

The 80-year-old faces up to 10 years in prison on each count, which could be served concurrently. It was the second time a jury was to decide his fate after his first trail last summer resulted in a deadlock jury.

Andrea Constand, 45, alleges Cosby drugged her with pills he called “your friends” and proceeded to molest her in January 2004.  The defense star witness was Marguerite Jackson, a former Temple University colleague of Constand’s who testified that Constand spoke of framing a famous person for the purpose of filing a lawsuit. Constand received nearly $3.4 million from Cosby over a decade ago.

Judge Steven O’Neil ruled that Cosby will remain free until the sentencing.

Many people are reacting differently to the verdict.

The verdict was a victory for the #MeToo movement, which has exposed sexual harassment and misconduct in entertainment, media, politics and beyond.

Up and coming singer, Alyx Stiff, says, “With everything going on, I know a case like this will make a statement. Regardless of the situation at hand, no one should feel out of control from themselves, if he made anyone feel like that–then, justice was served”.

The Essential Vibe

All of us go through things daily– and all of us need something to make us relax, reminisce and rise.

As time keeps going on and on I’m realizing I find a lot of sanity in music (I can’t sing one lick so maybe that’s why I love it so much). Even besides lacking musical harmonizing skills, I find myself falling deep into rhythms, and feeling the flow of words travel through me at the most therapeutic times.

Nothing makes a bad day better than dimmed room, candles lit and clean sheets with your favorite songs bouncing off the walls and captivating your mind as if it’s sorting your unclear thoughts out and allowing yourself to look into the roots of your conscience.. music in your 20s.

At an age where we have to be more that capable of switching it up and being on go at all times. The twentysomethings are all about you and setting yourself up for the future you are creating. We can’t go about this time of our lives without some theme songs to speak for us.

So do you know the artists you must have on your everyday playlists to get it through? Don’t stress, I’m about to put you on.

Image result for jhene aikoJhene Aiko: The soothing voice of Jhene Aiko was gifted to us and we must appreciate it in this age. Aiko who just left our #twentysomethingclub in March, has all the goods through love, lust, aspirations, heartbreak and growth. Any projects since 2011 is sure to get you through something.

Must listen: “Bed Peace” “The Worst” “Hello Ego” “My Mine”

Drake: Canadian rapper, who has been in the game for over a decade now, has the blueprint. Most of his career has been telling the story of his life and transitions through these #twentysomethings.

You can find his story on how he took a chance on himself, how he caught attention and how he turned his brand into an empire. The must listen in this category are in chronological order through his ten released projects.

Must Listen: “Special” “Closer” “Successful” “Say What’s Real” “Lust for Life” “Ignant Sh*” “Over” “Up all Night” “Fireworks” “Unforgettable” “Over My Dead Body” “Make Me Proud” “Lord Knows” “Furthest Thing” “Worst Behavior” “Pound Cake” “Legend” “Preach” “How About Now” “30 for 30 Freestyle” “U with Me?” “Nothing into Somethings” “Sacrifices” “Fake Love”

SZA: TDE’s only lady, took 2017 for a spin when she released her debut  studio album, Ctrl. She had two previous projects and random releases on her soundcloud account which acquired a subtle but passionate fan base. SZA’s lyrics are described as “unravelling,” that revolve around themes of sexuality, nostalgia, and abandonment. She’s one of the artist that remind us that we aren’t the only ones confidently lost out here. And she has a special song just for us #twentysomethings. Even with the recent announcement that she’ll only be releasing one more album, I have a feeling her music is going to live for a very long.

Must Listen: “Babylon” “TwoAm” “Sobriety” “Broken Clocks” “Supermodel” “20 Something” “Normal Girl” “Childs Play”

Russ: Self made artist from New Jersey is essential to this age because he is transparent in a time where people are putting up fronts daily. From his social media accounts to interviews to his music, you get what you get– him. “I think there was no room to doubt because I was so in love with music and so in love with the process. I would have only doubted myself if I was really attached to the result of what I was doing, but I was always doing it and will always do it for the love of making songs, and if you liked it you liked it, if you didn’t you didn’t. It was always pure and always will be pure.”

Must Listen: “What They Want” “Losin’ Control” “Do it Myself” “Longetivity Freestyle” “Always Knew” “Forbes List” “Be Somebody”

(Old)Kanye West: I hate to discriminate but there will never be another “Old Kanye”. Essential to life and understanding is knowing some of them gems Kanye gave us before the cuffed life. He will forever be one of the greatest influencers in this music stuff.

The Road Travelled

The road to recovery and redemption is a long way traveled when dealing with any life altering thing.

The road to redemption is a journey of a million tests and truths. Various members of the Bloomfield community came together to hear about the road Vance Johnson traveled.

Fomer NFL player and New Jersey native, Vance Johnson, came to Bloomfield to share his story and urge students to not be like him.

Johnson is an ex- Denver Bronco has played in three Superbowls over the souse of his 10-year career. He served as the key speaker to an audience of about 84 people Tuesday, in a day event hosted by the A.D.E.P.T. Committee.

A man before us who only wants to “break the chain”. The chain he is referring to, is the cycle of substance abuse. Once a child in a abusive household and says he, “just knew there was no way he could turn out like his father”.

He went from trying out for Olympics, to being drafted and then losing it almost all.

Alicia Cook introduces Vance Johnson to the packed multipurpose room. (Sourcevia Twitter: @the_alicia_cook)

“I just knew he would be perfect for the school,” said organizer of the event and Communications director of Bloomfield College, Alicia Cook.

Johnson and Cook crossed paths last year at an event, as their both dedicated to the figth against loss and substance abuse.

“He’s relatable, I think everyone could find a piece of them in his story. Even I did, as a white woman,” Cook added.

Vance Johnson who is now four years clean and in recovery is just thankful to be able to save people from the dangerous road substance abuse can cause.

Someone who started the presentation with telling the audience they wouldn’t be looking at him the same after he told his story– stole the hearts and admirations of many. As there were lines formed, one to take a picture and another for a look at Johnson’s three superbowl rings, i believe the purpose of the event was served.

50 Years without: Still Growth

main_600 (3)Fifty years ago, more than 100 cities across the United States went into rage and riots after news broke out that Martin Luther King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. Some cities were sent into chaos over several days.

One man murdered led to hundreds of buildings being burned, thousands of arrest and approximentaly 40 people loss their life. With losing a leader, a reveloutionary, and the peace of the nation– people were brought together to mourn. Memorial services and demonstartions stemmed from all over the world.

Washington D.C., Detroit, Chicago, and Baltimore were the most affected by the MLK asaasination riots.  Of the 39 people who died in the nationwide disturbances, 34 were black.

The convulsions unleashed by a sniper in Memphis left the nation with unpromising questions still need to be answered. Were cities in flames only premonitions of an America without Martin Luther King?

With this week making it fifty years, how far has america came?

A continous string of police shootings of unarmed black men and women — including the controversial shooting death of Stephon Clark last month in Sacramento, continues to create an uneasy divide between law enforcement and African Americans. Clark, 22, is just the latest in a long list of police shootings of black men —such as Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.; Laquan McDonald in Chicago; and Walter Scott in North Charleston, S.C.— that have shaken America in the recent years.
